Product note

Information selected from the online data sheet is extracted from bioinformatics databases, occasionally resulting in the ambiguous or irrelevant product information. It is the customer’s responsibility to review, verify and evaluate the information to make sure it matches their requirements before purchasing the kit. The essays in our ELISA kit are dynamic research tools and can sometimes be updated and improved.

If the format of this assay is important to you, please request the current manual or contact our technical support team with a pre-sale consultation before placing an order. We will confirm the current details of the trial. We cannot guarantee that the sample manual posted online is the most current manual, it is intended to serve as an example only. See the instructions for use provided with the test kit for precise details.

Other notes

Occasionally, small volumes of Neomycin ELISA kit vials may get caught in the product vial seal during shipping and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial in a benchtop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid on the lid of the container. Some products may need to be shipped with dry ice and an additional fee may apply for dry ice.

MBS281614 is a ready-to-use microwell plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) kit for testing the presence of neomycin ELISA kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls provide a theoretical detection range of the kit in biological research samples containing neomycin.

The analytical biochemical ELISA technique of the MBS281614 kit is based on neomycin antibody-neomycin antigen interactions (immunoadsorption) and an HRP colourimetric detection system to detect neomycin antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, non-recombinant neomycin. Appropriate sample types may include secretions and undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates. Quality control trials evaluating reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV (%).

Related Product Information for Neomycin ELISA kit

Neomycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic found in many topical medications, such as creams, ointments, and eye drops. The discovery of neomycin dates back to 1949. It was discovered in the laboratory of Selman Waksman, who was later awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1951. Neomycin belongs to the class of aminoglycoside antibiotics that contain two or more amino sugars. connected by glycosidic bonds.

Resistance to neomycin is conferred by one of the two aminoglycoside phosphotransferase genes. A neo gene is commonly included in DNA plasmids used by molecular biologists to establish stable mammalian cell lines expressing cloned proteins in culture; many commercially available protein expression plasmids contain neo as a selectable marker. Non-transfected cells will eventually die when the culture is treated with neomycin or a similar antibiotic. Neomycin or kanamycin can be used for prokaryotes, but geneticin (G418) is generally required for eukaryotes.

Assay principle: This assay is based on the competitive enzyme immunoassay for the detection of neomycin in the sample. Neomycin residues in the sample and the precoated docking antigen in the microwell stripes compete for the anti-neomycin antibody. After addition of the enzyme conjugate, TMB substrate is added for staining. The optical density (OD) value of the sample has a negative correlation with the neomycin it contains. This value is compared with the standard curve and the Neomycin concentration is subsequently obtained.
